The drop knee turn is a perfect set up turn for a walk to the nose, because the drop knee position is a lot like a step. You tend to face forward in the drop knee, more so than a regular flat foot heelside turn.

I'm dropped down in a deep knee bend, with my back toe and ball of the foot pressing the heelside rail. The turn goes to the left.

Next I take a cross step forward. During the cross step, I like to try not to rise all the way out of the drop knee, but to keep my knees bent. The easiest way to do this is to try not to let your head come up to a new level.

Here I transfer my weight forward, still in cross stance. I like to milk my cross step for all it's worth, keeping it moving, but real slow. Note how I push off my back toe, but don't pick it up. The idea is I want to leave my back foot there for stability until my body has pressed forward. Then I'll just swing the foot underneath me. It's not running, you want to keep your feet glued to the board as much as possible, for total control with your feet.

One thing I like to do is to try to look really relaxed while actually working pretty hard. My upper body is kind of lifted and calm, but actually I'm pressing hard with all my weight into the board, and that's why it looks like my legs are straining. It's an illusion, because most people watching might see me ride and not notice my feet, so it'll look like I'm Joe Relaxed.

Next I uncross, taking a hang five position on the tip.

At the nose, I arch forward and just hang out and perch there for a while.

This chain is taken from a larger project in Drop Knee Tribute.
