This Walk Chain is a variation on the cross push walk. It is performed backwards, or with my back to the nose. Following this sequence is confusing because of the direction of travel. The board is travelling nose first, so it's going forwards, but my back is to the nose. All steps in the cross push walk must be reversed. It starts switch and ends up regular stance.
This sequence starts in switch stance. I'm going to walk back towards the tail while keeping my speed up with backwards cross pushes.
I pick up my right foot, which is closest to the nose, and reach it behind me. This will give me a good range of motion for the push.
I bring my foot forward with my toe planted, pushing the board backwards. This feels a little like kicking forwards. I try to pass my pushing foot past my foot on the board, to get a good push stroke.
Out of the backwards push, I don't replace my foot in side by side stance, I'm going to cross step closer to the tail.
The challenge is stepping forward along the board while the board is moving in the opposite direction.
I place my right foot in front of my left, closer to the tail, in a cross step. I now turn my head counter clockwise, setting up a push on the other side of the board.
My left foot is now back, and I reach it back for a push.
I bring my left foot forward with my toe planted, pushing the board backwards.
I now replace my left foot on the board behind me, closer to the nose. I have turned to face toeside. Effectively, I'm in regular stance travelling forward.
This chain is taken from a longer routine in Cruise Power. |

I'll try to answer. Make the subject line say something about skating.
