The great catcher and wit Yogi Berra said once that "Ninety percent of skateboarding is mental. The other half is physical." Well, O.K., he really said that about baseball. But the same could be said of skateboarding, that some large percentage of your ability in your sport will be governed by your mental attitudes and habits, and not just by your physical talent. This article is written for skateboarders, but surfers could probably use the same methods for much of their practice. The skateboarder doesn't have to be a longboarder, it's for new schoolers too. I'm no expert on new school tricks, but I am an expert at practicing surface motion sports. Any skateboarder who wants to take a less chaotic or illogical approach to learning moves can benefit from this. That way you can save more chaos and illogic for your personal relationships.
