Backside nose slide

I begin to unwind the wind up, turning my shoulders in the backside direction, clockwise. I stretch my arms out to get plenty of leverage. Remember this is almost a 5 foot board and twice the weight of a street longboard. Even with the nose stance, I'll still need a big shape in my upper body to get the plank around.

My weight is mostly on my front leg.

By torquing my shoulders around and pressing back with my back leg, I break the rear wheels into a backside slide.

At this point I've squared off my shoulders and I'm riding the slide around.

At this point I need to check the rotation. You can't see it too well, but I'm turning my shoulders against the rotation, turning them counterclockwise.

You can see my front hand here, now pointed backwards. That puts my arms in the check position. My whole orientation is facing backwards, checking the slide's rotation. My weight is still on my left leg, only now it's my back leg. The board stops neatly at 180.

Half shuffle to narrow stance

To start the walk to tail, I shift my weight onto my right leg, the new front leg. You can see by the segmented grip tape that I half shuffled my right leg back a bit to make some walking room. This puts me in a narrow stance on the nose, which now is positioned as the tail. I begin the step with my back leg by leading the knee forward. That will pick up the heel, leaving the toe down to be picked up last, in a smooth, controlled order. The board stays under control when these sequential, deliberate moves are taken in a cross step.
