Sunday, January 11, 1970: This photo feature documents the winter formation of a beach between the two jettys. The beach spans almost the whole harbor. A channel 30 feet wide next to the east jetty was all there was left of use to boaters. Dogs are seen skipping on the beach between the two jettys. The beach spans almost the whole harbor. A channel 30 feet wide next to the east jetty was all there was left of use to boaters.
For surfers it was a different story. Two surfers can be seen wading into the surf, holding shortboards, or perhaps kneeboards. Though they are many yards past the east jetty, they are walking in barely knee deep water, right in the center of the mouth, heading our way, toward the west jetty.
